EMS Blood Program
Bridging the Gap Between Emergency Response and Hospital Care
Shepeard Community Blood Center’s EMS Blood Program equips ambulances with lifesaving blood products. When clinically indicated, trained paramedics can administer blood at the scene of an emergency, allowing critical treatment to begin before a patient arrives at the hospital. This effort is especially valuable in rural areas, where longer travel distances can delay access to care.
By bringing lifesaving blood products closer to patients when they need them most, the EMS Blood Program helps bridge the gap between emergency response and hospital care, improving patient outcomes.
Shepeard currently provides emergency blood products to 8 EMS agencies in Georgia and South Carolina.

“One of the things that makes Shepeard special is that it is a local, community-based blood center. When you donate blood, your donation has the opportunity to stay right here in our community, helping neighbors, friends, and families when they need it the most.”
